Born in Los Angeles, California in 1956, Goldston began studying mime with Richmond Shepard at the age of 18. Throughout his career Goldston also studied extensively with Stefan Niedzialkowski and Marcel Marceau.
In 1980, he founded The Goldston & Johnson School for Mimes, an intensive summer program which hosted over ten seminars with Stefan Niedzialkowski as well as premiered company production of Time Sculptures. The School for Mimes also hosted five seminars with Marcel Marceau who continues to serve as Artistic Advisor to the Goldston Mime Foundation.
Working as an internationally known mime for the past 30 years, Goldston has toured his solo "One Mime Show" across the United States, and in Hong Kong, Paris, Taiwan, Korea and Poland. In 2000/2001, he performed with Marcel Marceau as his sign holder in the U.S. solo tours and in the fall of 2004, he performed as a principal member of Marceau's company, the Nouvelle Compagnie de Marceau for the American Repertory Theatre shows in Boston. In 1986, he founded The Invisible People, a 7-member mime company that toured their productions both nationally and internationally.
A recipient of two N.E.A. choreography fellowships, Goldston's directing & coaching credits include: Mime Coach for Anne Hathaway for the Miramax film, Ella Enchanted; Mime & Physical Comedy Coach for Julie Harris in her upcoming equity play, Hanging Fire; solo productions off-Broadway, and KaPoot!, a new vaudeville play that premiered in Chicago.
As a performer, Goldston has made brief appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Law & Order, television commercials, and at numerous corporate and industrial events.
Goldston currently lives in New York City where he teaches on-going classes at his Studio for Mime & Comedy. In addition to his teaching and international tours, he is writing a book on mime choreography, and creating a 7-tape video series on mime and physical comedy.
